The 37th Annual Synod Assembly of the Southwest California Synod will be held at the Marriot Hotel in Burbank, California from Friday May 30th to Saturday May 31st, 2025.  Registration will commence at 10:00am on Friday and the assembly will begin at 1:00pm. The assembly is the regular annual meeting of the synod to receive annual reports, adopt a budget, and elect persons to serve in various capacities.  Other business related to the interests and function of the synod, its congregations and agencies, and the ELCA may be conducted according to established procedures (Synod Constitution, Chapter 7, Synod Practices, 200-202). The assembly will be gathered around the theme, “What It Means To Be Lutheran In Southern California.”  The voting membership is defined in the Synod Constitution sections S7.21-S7.28.  Generally, the (Senior) Pastor of each congregation in good standing (or congregations under development, or worshiping community) and two lay persons from each congregation (typically 1 mail and 1 female) will serve as voting members of the Assembly.  Congregations are also encouraged to send one youth or young adult aged 16 to 30 as voting member.  Furthermore, those congregations with an increased number of baptized members will be invited by the Synod Office to send additional, lay and or youth or young adult voting members.
